We used to unite
In a peacloud haze of potsmoke
in the backseat of a Chrysler.
We were invincible,
We were inseparable,
Predictable, but comfortable.
Long days spent doing nothing,
or doing anything we could.
Forgetting it all by the morning.
But as the months grew long,
The tune we used to carry
became the song that went on too long.
And recently I've come to realize
That a sailed ship is bound to sink sometime
And all it ever comes down to
Is where in the sea it decides it's through.
But these days I used to look back on
with a fond enthusiasm?
Now I look back and I just cry.
We used to unite
In an empty locked up basement,
In a house where your parents
were 10 hours away.
We were young and we were fucked up.
Chasing promiscuity,
Shit decisions lauded by best friends.
But, oh, how it'd all come to an end.
So let's take one last ride
Down Laurel Heights Drive.
The lights are on, but no one's inside.
We'll ignore the cemetery in the backyard,
Head down over to the basement,
Bury our bodies in the concrete where this all started.
